At the Law Office of Vimala D. Nowlis I work diligently to provide a high level of personal service and attention to details to my clients, men and women, throughout Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, who need representation in family law matters, from divorce, child custody and visitation, to child support or spousal support, and prenuptial or postnuptial agreements.

I left a law firm to open my own solo practice in 2002 so I can provide one-on-one service and focus all my energy and attention on my clients. Your case will not be handed from legal secretary to paralegal to associate attorney, or from attorney to attorney. I will handle your case from beginning to end, one-on-one personal service private club style.

Education and Experience

"Anything worth doing is worth doing well." I have a J.D. with Distinction and passed the Bar at the first sitting because I am especially in tuned in identifying legal nuances. I also have an MBA as a Salutatorian which gives me special acumen in handling complicated cases and complex financial disputes. And I have a BA in Communications and went through several mediation and negotiation trainings which gives me an edge in settlement negotiations. The combination gives me the ability to provide comprehensive services to my clients.

As a solo practitioner, I handle all aspects of every case, from beginning to end, so I know every detail of the case. This helps me manage your case effectively and efficiently without layers of staff up and down and it also reduces duplicate work and miscommunications.

The question is never "how can I get justice" but "how much justice can I afford and what am I willing to pay for justice". Nothing in life is free, you pay attention or you pay with pain and with money. I appreciate your respecting my time and understand that I am a professional and my law firm is a business.

As Abraham Lincoln said, "Time and Advice are attorney's stock in trade." I love to help you and get you all your entitlements under the law. However, as all psychologists know, free advice is never valued, therefore I don't give free advice. What I do give is "case review consultation" on hourly fee basis. Tell me your story and bring me your papers for review and I will help you device a battle strategy and action plan. If you retain me to represent you, your initial "case review consultation" fee will be rebated against your retainer fee.
